Samsung Headset Disassembled
Last night I ripped open the microphone pod of my Samsung headset. It has two earbuds, a microphone, and a mute switch. I felt safe doing this becasue I have a second of the same model left over from my first phone which was replaced by insurance. The phone it came with is the Samsung Juke.

This is my Samsung hands-free headset.
I used a razor blade to open it up. They used some kind of glue to hold it together that I had to cut away. Once one part of the pod is removed the board slips right out of the other one.
Using the blade like that I knicked one of the places where the earbuds are soldered onto the board. I’ll fix that later, should be a quick solder job.
The reason I opened the juke up was becasue I wanted to wire an audio signal directly into the microphone. I wanted to do this to record ringtones instead of paying for them. After doing some thinking I realized my plan would not work and didn’t carry it out.
Here are some pictures of the device.
